Semi-permanent makeup as a solution for those with thin or sparse brows is becoming more and more popular. Most people are only familiar with microblading, but there's more than one option! Nano and ombre are both semi-permanent methods that are more versatile and can last longer than traditional microblading.

We require a consultation for all our permanent makeup clients. These consultations are free and we can determine which method would be best for you, decide on your shape, and match pigments to your natural hair color! After consultation, there is no pressure to follow through with the service.

We want to make sure that you are comfortable and have all the information you need.  You can click 'Learn More' below to learn about our Signature Ombre method. We also offer a quiz that can help you discover which method might be best for you!

Where can I learn more?

There's a few different options for getting all the information you need. In order to learn what eyebrow shape is best for you, what eyebrow color is best for you, and what method (microblading, nano, or ombre) might be suitable, you can either make a consultation with our East Lansing location or take our online quiz!

What method is best for me?

Most people are only familiar with eyebrow tattooing and microblading, but there's more options! At Aphrodite's Secret, we also offer nano brows and ombre powder brows.

We do free consultations where we give you our recommendations on what eyebrow method is best for you.

What is the healing process like for Microblading or Ombre brows?

Depending on the method, healing is usually very easy. Experienced artists will have shorter service times, which means a more comfortable healing process. Most of our clients do not experience any scabbing, and are comfortable returning to work and seeing family same day or next day.

Immediately after service, the brows will be slightly darker than the healed result and will usually be a little bit red for a few hours. We give each client an aftercare kit that includes written instructions and an ointment to use on the brows for the first two weeks.

How experienced are your artists?

We believe that every client should have the best quality work possible, so we only have eyebrow artists with over 10 years of experience. Our artists are certified with the American Academy of Micropigmentation, and have studied extensively in the United States, Canada, China, and Korea to master the most popular and advanced eyebrow techniques.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions are needed?

We always do two sessions. This allows us to add color very lightly during the first session to see how your skin absorbs the pigment. It's important to go slowly with pigmentation because we never want to make your eyebrows too dark. So in our second session, when we are able to see how much pigment your skin absorbed, we can go back in and fix any missing patches, darken to your desired color, and really craft your perfect brows. The second session is no charge, as both sessions are included in the initial payment.

How long does it last?

There's a few different options for getting all the information you need. In order to learn what eyebrow shape is best for you, what eyebrow color is best for you, and what method (microblading, nano, or ombre) might be suitable, you can either make a consultation with our East Lansing location or take our online quiz!

What is the cost of touch-ups?

Our touch-ups are currently $240 every 3-5 years. Some places will charge more if you wait longer between touch-ups, but we actually encourage our clients to wait if their brows still look good. We check in on a yearly basis to evaluate whether you need a touch-up or not!

Less touch-ups means a more natural result. If you touch-up too frequently, the results can begin to look too solid and like a tattoo.

What if I don't have any eyebrow hair?

People who lack eyebrow hair often think that microblading is their best choice, but the strokes created during microblading can actually look very unnatural on bare skin. Strokes are created to mimic the natural hairs of the brow, but when they don't have anything to blend into, they can look like they're just stamped onto your forehead. Microblading strokes also have a tendency to fade and bleed outward over time, resulting in thicker lines that look chunky on skin with no hair. In most cases of people without eyebrow hair, we recommend the ombre method.

What if I have eyebrow scars?

We require consultations if you have any existing eyebrow scarring. Because it is impossible to predict how your scars may react to the pigment, we have to be very careful. Some people have scars that easily take pigment and end up darker than the rest of their brows, while others have scars that refuse to take any pigment at all. Consultations are very important for all cases of scarring.

Do you do corrections?

Yes, within reason. If the brows were done unevenly by another artist, we may be able to correct and re-balance the brows for you. We are also able to offer color correction if your microblading strokes have faded gray or red. If we are not confident in our ability to fix your brows, we will not offer correction to you. For example, if your color was done too dark by another artist, adding more pigment to it is very unlikely to make anything better.

In these cases, we may recommend removal instead. We offer laser removal for clients whose old brow work is too dark, uneven, or unshapely to be corrected. We require a consultation for correction and removal work so that we can get a background of your previous experience and issues.

What is the healing time like?

Healing will slightly depend on the method. Microblading tends to have a harsher healing experience with some scabbing and peeling for the first few weeks. Ombre and nano methods are gentler and will usually not result in any scabbing. A more experienced artist will mean easier healing.
