What to Expect from a Microblading Service

With Chan's years of experience working in semi-permanent makeup services, she has worked with hundreds of people and has answered thousands of questions.

"When it came down to it, some people held our pigments better than others," Chanjuan Yang, owner of Aphrodite's Secret Skin care and Microblading said. "After their second session, I don't have to see some clients for a year or more. Others, need maintenance after six months."

The truth is, despite using the best pigments and providing the proper aftercare the healing process is completely dependent on the client and how they take care of their skin pre and post procedure.

"We always start our clients out with a lighter tone and natural shape, the results will match their hair color and it looks very seamless. The reasoning is, we have no idea how their skin will absorb our pigments. Starting with a light tone is like the introduction. The second session is when we can really perfect our work."

Our second session is always free

The healing process for microblading takes time, and during the scabbing process the brows can look less than perfect. We don't want you to be discouraged by this, but to trust the process. The best thing you can do during this time is to follow your aftercare instructions and avoid skincare products which contain active ingredients that increase pigment fading. Although you might not be directly putting your skincare on your brows, ingredients with retinol, glycolic, or salicylic travel under the skin thus effecting the color's integrity of your new eyebrows.

If you are out in the sun often, have oily skin, use anti-aging creams, retin-A/retinol products, acidic cleansers, natural elements, regular chemical peels, or exercise frequently, your permanent makeup WILL fade prematurely. The better you take care of the treated area and follow the provided aftercare, the longer it will last.

How well the client takes care of their skin before and after service will determine the look of the brows post healing. Your skin, lifestyle and after care play a huge role in you results. Everyone heals differently.

Color will fade/soften anywhere from 10%-50% or more once healed. At the second session we will fine tune any area that has faded too much. You may need still to powder and/or pencil even after the healed results. This is an enhancement to your natural brows, not a permanent one. Touch ups to maintain the look is required and at some point you may not be able to have permanent makeup done based on your skins condition. Each time a procedure is performed, scar tissue is made, causing retention to be less and less each time it is done. This is universal in all permanent makeup procedures.

"Everyone's skin reacts differently, it's all chemistry. We have clients that come in for the second session and barely need any work done. Some clients the color has completely faded away. This is why we do the service in two sessions. We can always add more color, but we can't take any away."

Microblading or Microshading?

If you have oily skin, bleed easily, have sensitive skin, or have course brow hair you are not a good candidate for microblading. Microshading are better suited for your skin type as seen in the photo to the right.

If you've previously had eyebrow micopigmentation, microblading might not be the best option for you. Microblading is most ideal for clients with normal to dry skin, fine hair, and virgin brows that haven't had previous permanent makeup procedures.

This client to the right had her original session with us. She desired the hair stroke technique but her natural coarse hair made the end result look disconnected and once the pigment naturally began to fade you could clearly see where her hair ended and the microblading began.

During her second session with us we decided to do microshading. The results are so different! This is why it is important for all clients to go to their second session. Your artist has no idea how your skin will take to the pigment. If it is not perfect, they can go back in a fix it.

At Aphrodite's Secret we are in the business for perfect brows. We are dedicated to our clients and do so by always offering additional services to them until their eyebrows are perfect.
