So you’re thinking about Microblading and have a lot of questions! Well you've come to the right place; here at Aphrodite's Secret we pride ourselves on being experts in our industry and are always ahead of the learning curve. We're here to help you figure out the best course of action for feeling your very best and most beautiful!

What is microblading?

Microblading also known as Eyebrow embroidery falls under the permanent makeup category however it is less invasive than other techniques such as tattooing. The procedure can last 1-2 hours while a follow-up appointment will take less time than the initial microblading appointment. During the procedure your Esthetician will shape and clean up your brow line before using a sloped blade with 10-12 little needles on the end to scratch the surface of your skin with a high quality medical grade pigment.

Great so now you've been through your first microblading appointment! During our appointment we will discuss how to care for your eyebrows for the next couple weeks and schedule a follow-up appointment for minor touch ups and to examine the brows to be sure they are healing properly. It will take 7-14 days for the brow to heal and nearly a full month for the color to fully set.

How long does microblading last?

Typically the pigment from microblading will begin to fade around 18 months.  Keep in mind, everyone's skin is different and how well your skin takes the pigment will effect the fading process. Scheduling touch appointments regularly is very important to maintain your brow, this will help prolong the eyebrow pigment. However if you decide to let nature take its course and go back to your natural brow you can rest easy knowing it is very uncommon for there won't be any scarring (when done by professionals) and there is no evidence that microblading will interfere with your natural hair growth.

Is microblading safe?

Yes! Microblading is safe however should be done by a trained professional. The blade does puncture the skin so sterilization and disinfection guidelines should always be met.

How is microblading different than tattooing?

Microblading if done properly can make the eyebrow look like a more dense version of the natural eyebrow where tattooed eyebrows look more flat and line like. This is because microblading only reaches the first layer of skin where a tattoo needle will reach into deeper layers giving it that flat look.
