Let's talk about the shading technique (ombre eyebrow) and why it looks more natural than microblading.

The introduction of semi-permanent makeup has been a lifesaver for women and men who are looking for a boost in their everyday appearance, without everyone knowing they had a boost in their everyday appearance.

Semi-permanent eyebrows in particular gives people an option to have the full, fluffy, or defined brows they've always wanted.

Why should I go for the ombre technique? I want hair strokes so it can look more natural.

Ombré shading is the newest trend in eyebrow semi-permanent makeup but its actually been a thing for hundreds of years. Because this method has been around for a long time, it doesn't have the best reputation. Many people are fearful of this method looking unnatural, because it does create a more "solid" look than microblading. Today's power brows are far more natural looking than their 1985 predecessors. In fact, ombre brows can be made to look very natural, by not saturating the brow shape 100% with pigment and allowing for a defined yet soft/non solid look. It gives a soft shaded brow pencil look. Once healed, it is more natural looking than solid color. It gives great definition and depth to the brows. Whether the client is looking for a light soft shading or show-stopping bold brows, it can be customized according to the client's desire. Not all ombre is created equal, and depending on who you go to, your ombre brows can look different.

Let's observe the photo above.
For many of our clients they come to the consultation with hopes of thickening up the brow. For some there is hair in the front, like pictured above, but years of plucking have left the tails very thin. It can age the client, and make it difficult for them to shape the brows on a daily bases. The ombre technique was perfect for the client (as it is for everyone) because it is versatile. She has fullness in the front so the main focus stayed on the tail and middle of the brow. A light touch was used in the front in order to give the brows a proper transition.

Microblading consists of individual hair-like strokes that mimic the natural hair of eyebrow as opposed to a penciled look. The process is more invasive because it involves a cutting motion into the skin. Because the strokes are to mimic hair strokes the pigments used tend to be darker if you want them to stay, even for clients who have blonde hair! The results right away do look good, and very natural. However, overtime the lines will blur and in the end you loose those crisp lines and it can begin to look like a patchy shading job. The beauty of shading is that it can be combined with microblading to achieve a realistic look.

Not all Ombre is created equally.

Aphrodite's Secret uses a very sought after method when performing the ombre eyebrow. The goal for us, is to achieve a very natural look so with or without makeup your brows will fit your everyday style.

We free hand draw the eyebrow, this way your brows do not come out framed, thick, or boxy with sharp corners. Each brow created by us is different because each client we service has a unique bone structure. A thick feathered brow (pictured on the right) might fit a younger client but for someone a bit older they might prefer a more tamed look.

During our consultations we take our time deciding on color. Skin tones can have variations of tone and values. It is important to understand this concept so that one does not choose a pigment too dark for their client. This is why our microblading artists start with the lightest color and then work their way into darker pigments in necessary.

The procedure takes time. In order to achieve the airbrushed look pictured to the right, variations of techniques are used to show the gradual transition. Depending on where you hair is thickest, less pigment is used in these areas to avoid blotchy dark patches.

Our ombre services are truly unique to each client we service. Skin type, color, hair growth, bone structure, and lifestyle are important factors we discuss before beginning our services.

This photo above shows the client (photo found below on mobile device or right on desktop computer) eyebrows after 3 months of healing.

It's important to see the Do's and Don'ts of Ombre. A more famed look, like the one pictured above can be a desired look for some clients. We do not use a framing style when performing our services. The edges of the brows we create, although defined, still gradually fade into the skin. Once healed, it blends into the natural eyebrow hair evenly. Or, for our clients who have no eyebrow hair, the brows leave a natural power look versus an awkward stamp on the forehead. The client before and after photo above shows a good example right after done. The color is deep at the tail but gradually softens toward the front to avoid a harsh look.

Who is a better candidate for Ombre?

Because of the ombe technique's versatility, anyone can have this service done! Especially clients who are looking to cover up old microbladed brows or tattoo brows (color correction services might also be needed.)

For the best results talk with your service provider about your goals post service. Remember, this is semi-permanent makeup. This means you will need to come in yearly for a color boost as the pigments begin to fade. To achieve a more intense or glam look it is perfectly normal to lightly fill in the brows until you achieve the desired look.

See us once a year for a color boost.

As with every semi permanent makeup procedure, the duration of the results without touching them up varies based on skin type, lifestyle, attention the clients pays to them, amount of sun exposure, proper aftercare, beauty habits such as facials or peels, the quality of the pigments used, as well as the overall wellbeing of the client.

Considering all this, we can only give you a general window 6 months to 1 year.

The photo below is an after photo 6 months post service.

Remember this is Semi-permanent brow ENHANCEMENT

Sometimes clients can miss the mark on what microblading or ombre does for the brows. Sometimes it a job for us, as professionals, to give our honest opinion so the goal between client and service provider remains clear.

Ombre or microblading styles is a semi-permanent style and is used to enhance the brows. We have clients who's goal is to "never have to touch their brows again." If that is what your looking for, you are looking for a brow tattoo. When we perform our service we strive for our clients to have natural brows no one can tell are enhanced. We collaborate intensely with our clients so that we can both agree on a shape that will fit their face structure and lifestyle. Be aware, although you've received the service, this is a brow enhancement. You will still, on occasion, use a brow pencil to add to the brows as you see fit. whether its bringing in more arch, lengthening the tail, or adding more color to the front of the brow. We encourage it! But, we strongly disagree with booking an appointment just to add more to the brows so you do not have  to do it yourself anymore. Once you've added we can't take away. You will have to wait for it fade away naturally. This is why we always talk our clients out of adding anything that could be too harsh of a look when the client is not wearing makeup.

Observe the photo of our client above. The front of her brows were barely touched during her service. Now, with or without makeup her brows fit her perfectly. When she wants a bolder look, she has the option. This is our goal.

Remember, semi-permanent eyebrow services are a brows enhancement. It will save you time in the morning but you might want to alter your brows here and there depending on the event or situation. This is normal! You still want to have versatility for your brows.
