What’s the difference between a brow tint, hybrid tint, and a henna tint?
The main difference between a brow tint, hybrid tint, and henna tint is the length of the color lasting results. A standard brow tint will last the least amount of time, up to 3 weeks, because it is meant to only tint the hair and not the skin. A hybrid tint does not last as long as henna, with hybrid tints lasting for 10 days on the skin and on the hair for 7 weeks and henna lasting for 14 days on the skin and lasting 4-6 on the hair.
How do we do it?
We will first consult with you about the color and the shape of the brow that you would like and match it with the shape of your natural brow, face, and eye shape. After mapping and shaping the brow and applying the dye, it will take 10-20 minutes for it to dry before we remove the excess color.
Benefits of brow tinting
- Long-lasting color
- Less maintenance and no fill time needed
- More even look of the brow
- Makes lighter haired brows look more defined
What should be expected during a brow tinting session?
We will do a patch test 24-48 hours before the treatment date to make sure that there is no irritation, swelling, or inflammation of the skin. If anything abnormal happens, we will advise not continuing with the treatment to ensure the best quality experience.
We will also take the time to map out your brows to find the best shape for you. Learn more about our brow mapping process.
When the service is completed, there may be some color left over on the skin surrounding the brow. This is normal, since the color will need to absorb into the skin to coat the hair the best. The color on the skin will be much quicker to fade than the hair, so don’t worry if your brows look extra dark for a few days.
Q. Why should I choose you for this service or any service?
A. We review and research our techniques and products we use in our services every year. This ensures that we not only provide the best care in how we apply services to our clients, but also maintain quality products that are used in the service and aftercare. We also take the time to get to know our clients and what their needs are when it comes to any service they have with us. Your comfort and care is of utmost importance to us, and we take pride in making personal connections with our clients that will last throughout any appointment.
Q. How is your cost different from other salons or esthetician offices?
A. We charge more for the years of experience of the technician, the high quality products we use in all of our services, and the time and care that is dedicated to each client that comes in. Better quality will always come with better final results.
Q. Who is this service for?
A. This service is best suited for those that have sparse brows and light colored hair, but we accept any client that is looking to get their brows done. You will have the ability to consult with our brow artist to find out if this is the best service for you. We recommend if you are coming in for a tinting service to first get a standard tint as opposed to a hybrid or henna tint to make sure that this is the kind of look you want.
Q. How often will I need to get it retouched?
A. Take a look at this chart from our Instagram!
Q. Are there any side effects to getting my brows tinted?
A. The only side effects would involve any allergic reactions to the pigments. We will always perform a patch test before service to make sure that we avoid this from happening.
Q. How long does the service take?
A. 30 minutes total, including consulting and brow mapping.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. A standard tint will be $20, whereas a henna tint will be $40.
Q. If I have an event scheduled, when should I book my appointment?
A. We recommend scheduling your appointment 1-2 weeks in advance of the event to make sure the color on the skin has enough time to fade after the service.
Q. How do I prepare for this service?
A. Please arrive with a freshly cleaned face and no makeup to give the artist the best canvas to work from.
We recommend not washing the brows or being in any direct steam or wet environments for the first 24 hours after the service to keep the color from running. We also recommend avoiding any exfoliating skin care products, AHAs or Retin A, as these can affect the tint color of the brows.
After 48 hours, you can apply any additional makeup to the brow if you choose to.
Avoid UV or direct sunlight as much as possible.
Do not touch the brows to avoid smearing the color.
Use a gentle facial cleanser and/or makeup remover when washing your face, and avoid oil-based cleansers to keep the color on the brow.
